Good health for young people requires a holistic approach that aims to support and promote their physical, emotional, mental, social and sexual wellness.  AYAC affirms that significant caring relationships and connectedness, a sense of spirituality, access to economic resources as well as low family stress, are all critically important factors affecting the health of young people.

AYAC believes that…

  • Young people are competent to make many of the decisions about their physical health.
  • ‘Youth friendly’, no-cost health services are urgently needed to deliver team-based models of health care that include access to doctors, nurses, midwives, counsellors, youth workers and other support workers.
  • Young people should be empowered to be involved in taking care of their own health.
