Calling the Young and Extraordinary
Know someone who’s on the cusp of greatness? Chipping away at brilliant idea for change? Doing amazing volunteer work or representing a minority and making a splash? Nominate them for Young & Extraordinary.
There are two weeks left to nominate someone or apply for Young & Extraordinary, a nationwide search for Australia’s most creative, innovative and passionate young social change makers.
The Australian Youth Affairs Coalition (AYAC) and the Foundation for Young Australians (FYA) are searching for 50 ‘Extraordinaries’ to take part in an event that will elevate and celebrate their hard work, passion and impact.
Young & Extraordinary will be held in Melbourne on 25 October 2012. Attendees will have access to the knowledge and expertise of high profile changemakers; participate in panel presentations and hands on workshops; and connect with a unique network of young people at the forefront of social change in Australia.
Travel subsidies will be made available to some ‘Extraordinaries’ who are from interstate.
‘Extraordinaries’ may be campaigners; volunteers; innovators; social entrepreneurs; or founders or leaders of organisations – what they all have in common is that they are working to, in some way, make positive social change in their world.
“We know that there are more extraordinary young people out there changing the world than ever before,” says Jan Owen AM, CEO of FYA. “We want to find them. We want to thank them, connect them, highlight their work and help them to increase their impact.”
To nominate an Extraordinary or submit an application go to www.facebook.com/youngandextraordinary. Applications close Wednesday 29 August 2012.
