Join the youth reference group for our publication on youth engagement strategy

The Australian Youth Affairs Coalition has been commissioned by the Australian Government Office for Youth (to develop a ‘how-to’ guide for young leaders wanting to engage other young people within their projects or organizations, based on youth participation principles. This is following a commitment made by the Australian government at the Commonwealth Youth Forum in Fremantle in October 2011. The final publication will be presented at the next Commonwealth Youth Minister’s Conference in April 2013.

The guide will explore a variety of methods that young leaders can utilise when engaging other young people in their activities and define the key principles that can guide this process. These methods include online campaigns, community forums, activist campaigns and the establishment of youth led organisations.The guide will also feature 10 case studies, collected from across the Commonwealth, which will showcase the projects that have successfully engaged young people in decision making. These case studies will also demonstrate the diversity of youth organisations throughout the Commonwealth regions.

The Youth Reference Group will ideally in the selection of organisations that will be profiled as case studies within the publication and provide guidance on the structure of the final publication.
