CEO of Youth Research Centre Welcomes Budget Announcement on Mental Health
AYAC has partnered with the new Cooperative Research Centre for Young People, Technology and Wellbeing (YAW-CRC), and welcomes their comments on the announcement of the federal budget.Associate Professor Jane Burns’s, CEO of the new YAW-CRC, media release commented on the welcome increase in resourcing for youth mental health, which prioritises remote communities and inclusion the most vulnerable young people.
“The budget shows a substantial increase in resourcing for youth mental health including additional support for people with existing mental health difficulties, an e-mental health portal, increased professional development opportunities and the expansion of headspace centres and EPPIC services across Australia. The budget has prioritised young people in remote communities and has highlighted the need to promote the inclusion of those young people who are most vulnerable –indigenous young people and young people with a disability and their carers. This is welcome news.”
