Registration for Youth forum is now OPEN!
The Centre for Refugee Research is convening a Conference to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1951 Refugee Convention from the 14th to 17th of June 2011. As part of the Conference a Youth Forum will be being held on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 of June 2011 at the University of NSW Kensington Campus , Sydney.
About the Youth Forum
The Youth Forum run for one and half days on 14 and the morning 15 of June aims to provide a platform for young leaders from across Australia to come together to identify and discuss issues that impact the lives of refugee young people both locally and internationally. The Forum will provide participants with the opportunity to engage with human rights frameworks and participate in leadership and advocacy training to develop strategies to promote and represent the rights of refugee young people at a national and international policy level. The training and session content builds upon the strengths and achievements of the Refugee Convention, identifying what more is needed to secure the rights of refugee youth during flight, in countries of asylum and in resettlement.
Who should attend the Youth Forum?
Young people aged 12-25 from refugee and non-refugee backgrounds with an interest in human rights and refugee youth issues are strongly encouraged to attend.
The following sessions will be part of the Forum and are aimed at engaging young people about refugee youth issues locally, nationally and internationally.
Day One: 9am to 6pm
Session One: Human Rights training and Storyboarding

Session Three: Football United Activity
Session Four: Tree of Life Performance
Day Two: 9am to 11am
